…He was born as the son of Nagashima Seisuke, a sake merchant in Koishikawa, Edo. He loved haiku and rakugo from his childhood, but was disowned and became a disciple of the first Shunputei Ryushi. He became the first Ryushi Enshi through Shunputei Denshi and was promoted to shin'uchi.
