This is a competitive version of dog sledding, also known as mushing. In this event, one or more dogs pull a sled large enough to carry one dog, and the competitors compete for speed and strength. There are three types of events: speed events, in which only speed is competed for; pulka events, in which the dogs pull a streamlined frame weighing about 44 pounds (20 kg); and weight pulling events, in which the dogs pull a sled loaded with a certain weight within a time limit, and the weight is competed for.
