One of the world's largest mining companies, based in South Africa. Headquartered in Johannesburg. Founded in 1917 by Ernest Oppenheimer (1880-1957) with the support of the Morgan conglomerate. It started out with two gold mines, and in 1920 expanded into the diamond sector. Later, as a holding company, it expanded into the uranium, coal, industrial and commercial sectors. It has many operating companies under its umbrella, including Anamint (investment), Amgold (gold), Amcoal (coal) and Amic (industry).

南アフリカを地盤とする世界最大の鉱業資本の一つ。本社ヨハネスバーグ。1917年，モルガン財閥の支援を得てオッペンハイマーErnest Oppenheimer(1880‐1957)により設立された。当初二つの金鉱所有から出発し，20年にはダイヤモンド部門に進出。その後，持株会社として，ウラニウム，石炭，工業，商業部門等にも進出した。傘下には，Anamint(投資)，Amgold(金)，Amcoal(石炭)，Amic(工業)など多くの事業会社がある。
