Yukie Nakane
[Born] Bunka 4 (1807). July. Echizen
[Died] October 1877, Fukui. A samurai of the Echizen Domain in the late Edo period. His given name was Shishitsu. He was commonly known as Yukie, later Yukie. In his later years, he called himself Shoin Gyoou. In 1830, he inherited a family stipend of 700 koku and studied Japanese classics in Edo. In 1830, Tan'yasu Yoshinaga succeeded the Matsudaira family of Echizen. When he removed the conservative senior vassals and placed the progressive senior vassals in charge of the domain administration, Nakane was appointed as one of them and was appointed as a regent. During his 21 years in office, he not only reformed the domain administration, but also assisted the domain lord, supported Hitotsubashi Yoshinobu, and promoted the movement to unite the Imperial Court and the Shogunate. Even after the Meiji Restoration in 1867, he supported the former domain lord by serving as an advisor to the new Meiji government, a judge in the Domestic Affairs Bureau, head of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and head of the Taxation Bureau. He has written records including the "Sakimuki Kiji."
