A humorous story written by Dorakusanjin Mugiyoku. Published in 1777 (An'ei 6). One volume. The Asakusa Inga Jizo, who appeared in the author's dream, discusses the state of the world. In particular, the author focuses on Nakasu Shinchi (currently the area around Nihonbashi Nakasu in Chuo Ward), which was built on the Okawa River (Sumida River) in 1771 and which flourished as a leisure spot and pleasure district with rows of houses lined up in 1774. He describes the area's customs, restaurants, teahouses, and shows in a comical style, providing a vivid portrayal of the scenery. It is noted for being the first humorous story to feature Nakasu, which was demolished in 1789 (Kansei 1). Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
