A former town in Motosu County, western Gifu Prefecture. Most of the area is mountainous, with Monju and Soinakajima at the mouth of the Neo River, which flows through the Neo Valley, and meets the Nobi Plain. The Tarumi Railway runs through the town. Rice, onions, strawberries, persimmons, etc. are produced here. There is a cement factory. In February 2004, it merged with Shinjo Town, Itonuki Town, and Neo Village in Motosu County to form Motosu City. 51.25 km2 . Population 8,543 (2003).
