A former town in Motosu County, western Gifu Prefecture. Most of the area is mountainous, with Monju and Soinakajima at the mouth of the Neo River, which flows through the Neo Valley, and meets the Nobi Plain. The Tarumi Railway runs through the town. Rice, onions, strawberries, persimmons, etc. are produced here. There is a cement factory. In February 2004, it merged with Shinjo Town, Itonuki Town, and Neo Village in Motosu County to form Motosu City. 51.25 km2 . Population 8,543 (2003). 岐阜県西部,本巣郡の旧町。大部分は山地で,根尾(ねお)谷を流れる根尾川が濃尾平野に出る谷口にある文珠,曾井中島が中心。樽見(たるみ)鉄道が通じる。米,タマネギ,イチゴ,カキなどを産する。セメント工場がある。2004年2月本巣郡真正町,糸貫町,根尾村と合併し,本巣市となる。51.25km2。8543人(2003)。
