Nagaibogumo (long-tailed spider) - Nagaibogumo (English spelling) two-tailed spider

Nagaibogumo (long-tailed spider) - Nagaibogumo (English spelling) two-tailed spider
A spider of the family Acanthidae. Females are 10mm long, males 7mm long. The body is flat, with gray-white vertical stripes on a dark gray background. It is found in Okinawa, Taiwan, southern China, and India, and lives in forests. It is difficult to find it when it is clinging to a tree trunk because it looks very similar to the bark of a tree. Its legs are thin and long compared to its body, but the third walking leg is extremely small. Both its Japanese and English names are probably due to the fact that it has a thread wart that is the same length as its body. It stands still on a tree trunk with its eight walking legs spread out in all directions, waiting for food to come. When an insect or other insect comes near it, it lifts its hips to watch, and when the insect stands still, it steps back one step at a time, and when it reaches the back of the trunk where it is out of sight of the insect, it shoots a sticky thread at the insect while shaking its long thread wart.
