〘noun〙① Daily spoken language, as opposed to the written language (elegant language) used in poetry, writing, etc. ※Ryoshu Kai (738) official: "The ancient records state, 'Elegant. Slang is good.' ※Kokin Chomonshu (1254) 4: 'Even so, there is a limit to slang.' [Book of the Later Han - Cai Yong]② In contrast to standard colloquial speech, casual language that is not used in formal situations. Colloquialism. ※Jikan (1969)〈Kuroi Senji〉 2: 'I chose an American novel from a paperback〈abbreviated〉It's hard to read because there's too much slang.'③ A proverb that people use in their daily lives. Colloquial saying. ※Inryoken Diary - July 15, 1461 (Kansho 2) "In the midst of a storm, _{there is} _heavy rain. So it is inevitable that _it will rain for _{two or} three days. It is a common saying in the world. It rains 13 or 14 days. Today, _{there are no} _more rains. So it is an incorrect slang." ④ The words of the common people that are not related to Buddhism.
