Year of death: 1626 Year of birth: Unknown. A Christian military commander in the Azuchi-Momoyama period. Born to Matsunaga Hisahide's younger brother Jinsuke and the daughter of Naito, lord of Yagi Castle in Tanba, he was named Naito Tadatoshi. In 1565, he was baptized in Kyoto and called Joan. He served Ashikaga Yoshiaki, but after his downfall, he became a retainer of Konishi Yukinaga, and was also known as Konishi Joan. He took part in Toyotomi Hideyoshi's invasion of Korea. He was selected by Yukinaga to be a peace envoy to Ming China, and served in Beijing from 1594 to the following year, negotiating peace with Ming. When Yukinaga was executed in the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, he became a ronin, but with the help of Takayama Ukon, he became a guest commander of the Maeda clan of Kaga (Ishikawa Prefecture). In the same year, due to the Edo Shogunate's ban on Christianity, he was exiled to Manila along with his family, including Ukon and his sister Naito Julia, where he died of illness. 没年:寛永3(1626) 生年:生年不詳 安土桃山時代のキリシタン武将。松永久秀の弟甚介と丹波八木城主内藤氏の娘との間に生まれ,内藤忠俊という。永禄8(1565)年,京都で受洗しジョアン(如安)と称する。足利義昭に仕えるがその没落後,小西行長の家臣となり,小西如庵名でも知られる。豊臣秀吉の朝鮮出兵に際して出陣する。行長の命令で明国への講和使節に選ばれ文禄3(1594)年から翌年にかけて北京に使し,明と講和を交渉。慶長5(1600)年関ケ原の戦で行長が処刑されると浪人になるが,高山右近の援助で加賀(石川県)前田氏の客将となる。同19年江戸幕府のキリシタン禁制により,右近や妹の内藤ジュリアら家族と共にマニラに追放され,同地で病没。 (村井早苗) 出典 朝日日本歴史人物事典:(株)朝日新聞出版朝日日本歴史人物事典について 情報 |
