Born in 1858. In 1876, he translated and published "A Summary of Mental Diseases" by British psychiatrist Maudsley, contributing to the development of modern psychiatry in Japan. He opened internal medicine and surgery clinics in Kyoto and other places. He passed away in 1899, aged 52. He was from Shinano (Nagano Prefecture).
