Japanese: 呑竜 - どんりゅう

A heavy bomber of the Imperial Japanese Army. Its official name was the Army Type 100 Heavy Bomber. It was manufactured by Nakajima Aircraft and adopted in 1943 as a high-speed, powerfully armed heavy bomber that did not require fighter escort. It made a name for itself in the summer of the same year with a surprise bombing raid on Port Darwin in Australia, but its operational rate was low. In December 1944, the squadron stationed in the Philippines entered the Mindoro Island landings of the U.S. military as the "Kikusui Special Attack Unit," carrying 800 kg bombs each, and met a heroic end. It had two Ha-109 (1520 horsepower) engines, eight crew members, a total length of 16.2 m, a total width of 20.3 m, a total weight of 10.7 t, a maximum speed of 495 km/h, a practical ceiling of 8,160 m, and a range of approximately 2,600 km. Armament consisted of one 20mm cannon, five 7.7-12.7mm machine guns, and a bomb load of 500-800kg. 796 were produced.
