Inaba clan

Japanese: 因幡氏 - いなばうじ
Inaba clan
A powerful clan in ancient Inaba Province. They are descendants of the Inaba kuni no miyatsuko, who are believed to have had influence throughout Inaba Province in the pre-Taika period, with their clan centered in Inaba-go, Homimi County, Inaba Province, and also in Takakusa County and Yakami County. In 771 (Hōki 2), Kiyonari-me and her clan from Takakusa County were given the surname Inaba, and the Inaba clan was established, and they also gained the status of kuni no miyatsuko under the ritsuryo system. The clan worshiped Amenohohi no Mikoto in Fukui, Tottori Prefecture, and in the mid-Heian period, they competed fiercely for influence with the newly emerging powerful clan Ifukube clan, who worshiped Ube Shrine, the Ichinomiya of Inaba Province, after both were granted the divine rank of Shosanmi.
