Dorome (Doro-me) - Gluttonous goby

Dorome (Doro-me) - Gluttonous goby
A fish of the family Goby in the order Perciformes. In Japan, it inhabits coastal areas from the Tohoku region south to Okinawa. A species that is very similar in both morphology and ecology is the agogoby, which was previously thought to be an immature fish of the Dorome, but it can be distinguished by the fact that the Dorome has small scales, no black spots on its sides, and a pale yellow-green tail that looks whitish. Both are voracious eaters, preferring crustaceans and worms, and are easy to catch. They are commonly called dabohaze, and are popularly distinguished from and used as bycatch when fishing for ma-goby.
