(illustration), the Ferocactus genus with its flat central spines, the smallest cactus in the Frailea genus with a diameter of less than 1 cm, the completely spineless Astrophytum asterias (Zucc.) Lem. (illustration) and Lophophora williamsii (Lem.) Coult. (illustration), the Mammillaria genus covered with warty protrusions, the Ariocarpus genus with warts deformed into large triangles, the Kōzan ( Leuchtenbergia principis Hook.) with its long, rod-like protrusions rather than angular warts, and the Echinofossulocactus genus with up to 80 ridges.
