It is one of the three largest commercial banks in Germany, along with Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank, and is a member of the Associated Banks' of Europe Corporation (ABECOR), an alliance of major European banks. Its head office is in Frankfurt am Main. It was founded in 1872 as a general commercial bank in Dresden, and in 1884 moved its headquarters to Berlin.
