...They feed on sponges and small algae that are attached to reefs. The most common large cowry shell is Cypraea tigris (English name: tiger cowry). Its shell height reaches 11 cm, its diameter from side to side reaches 7 cm, and its dorsal and ventral diameter reaches 5.5 cm. However, those from Hawaii are particularly large, with some individuals exceeding 15 cm in height.
