Transvaal Coal Fields

A general term for the Waterberg, Springs, Witbank, and Ermelo coalfields in the Transvaal Province of South Africa. The coal-bearing layers are intercalated in the Permian period, with 3-5 layers of mineable coal, 1-5m thick, generally shallow and gently sloping. 南アフリカ共和国トランスバール州のウォーターベルグ，スプリングス，ウィットバンク，エルメロ炭田等の総称。夾炭層は二畳紀に介在し，可採炭層数は3～5枚，炭厚は1～5mで一般に伏在深度が浅く傾斜も緩い。炭質は原料炭，一般炭で，埋蔵量は約370億tといわれている。【大橋 脩作】
