A marine fish of the family Pycnonotidae in the order Perciformes (illustration). It is often called Itoyori. It is also called Itohiki in Maizuru, Bocho in Wakayama, Yamome in Susaki, Kochi Prefecture, Itohikikobiri in Matsue, and Akana in Kagoshima. It is found in the central and southern parts of Honshu and the East China Sea. Its body is somewhat elongated, with the upper end of its tail fin extending long and thread-like. It can reach a total length of 40 cm. Its body color is a bright pink, with six yellow vertical lines running along its sides from behind the head to the tail. スズキ目イトヨリダイ科の海産魚(イラスト)。イトヨリと呼ばれることも多い。また舞鶴でイトヒキ,和歌山でボチョ,高知県須崎でヤモメ,松江でイトヒキコビリ,鹿児島でアカナなどと呼ばれる。本州中部以南,東シナ海に分布する。体はやや細長く,尾びれの上端が糸状に長くのびている。全長40cmに達する。体色は鮮やかな淡紅色で,体側に6本の黄色縦線が頭の後ろから尾部まで走っている。背びれとしりびれにも2本の黄色縦帯があり,吻(ふん)に黄色縦帯がある。
