Born in the first year of the Kōhei era. The fourth son of Tokimitsu Tokimitsu. Learned sho from his elder brothers Kimizato Tokitada Tokitada. Was the sho teacher for Emperor Horikawa. Sakon no Shogen. The "Zoku Kyokunsho" (Continuation of Teachings) states that he received secret teachings from his father's pupil, Minamoto no Yoshimitsu (Shinra Saburo).
