Tokimoto Toyohara

Japanese: 豊原時元 - とよはらのときもと

1058-1123 A gagaku musician from the late Heian period.
Born in the first year of the Kōhei era. The fourth son of Tokimitsu Tokimitsu. Learned sho from his elder brothers Kimizato Tokitada Tokitada. Was the sho teacher for Emperor Horikawa. Sakon no Shogen. The "Zoku Kyokunsho" (Continuation of Teachings) states that he received secret teachings from his father's pupil, Minamoto no Yoshimitsu (Shinra Saburo). Died on June 21, the fourth year of the Hōan era. He was 66 years old.

康平元年生まれ。豊原時光(ときみつ)の4男。兄の豊原公里(きみざと),時忠(ときただ)に笙(しょう)をまなぶ。堀河天皇の笙の師範。左近将監(さこんのしょうげん)。「続教訓抄」には,父の弟子の源義光(よしみつ)(新羅三郎(しんら-さぶろう))から秘伝をうけたという話がのっている。保安(ほうあん)4年6月21日死去。66歳。
