A former town in Yamagata County in the mid-west of Hiroshima Prefecture. It has a large forested area, and there are farmlands and settlements in the narrow valleys along the valleys. Forestry, rice farming, poultry farming, dairy cow breeding, and vegetable cultivation are carried out, with cucumber cultivation being particularly popular. In February 2005, it merged with Geihoku Town, Oasa Town, and Chiyoda Town in Yamagata County to become Kitahiroshima Town. 130.66 km2 . 4,544 people (2003). 広島県中西部，山県(やまがた)郡の旧町。山林面積が広く，渓谷に沿う狭い谷地に耕地と集落がある。林業，米作，養鶏，乳牛飼育，野菜栽培を行い，特にキュウリの栽培が盛ん。2005年２月山県郡芸北町，大朝町，千代田町と合併し町制，北広島町となる。130.66km2。4544人（2003）。
