Toyone [village] - Toyone

Japanese: 豊根[村] - とよね

A village in Kitashitara County in the northeastern part of Aichi Prefecture. Population 1,524 (1995). Located at the southern end of the Kiso Mountains, it borders Nagano Prefecture to the north and Shizuoka Prefecture to the east. Most of the village area is covered by forests, and settlements are scattered along rivers such as the Oiri River, which is part of the Tenryu River system. Many of the settlements are famous for their traditional flower festivals. Forestry is thriving, producing high-quality cedar and cypress timber, and shiitake mushrooms are also cultivated. The area around Chausuyama in the north and around Lake Sakuma at the southeastern end belong to the Tenryu-Okumikawa Quasi-National Park, and a private lodging village has been established there.

愛知県北東部，北設楽（きたしたら）郡の村。人口1524(1995)。木曾山脈南端にあって，北は長野県，東は静岡県に接する。村域の大部分が山林で占められ，集落は天竜川水系の大入川などの河川沿いに点在するが，集落の多くは花祭を伝えていて花祭の里として有名。林業が盛んで，杉，ヒノキの良材を産出し，シイタケ栽培も行われる。北部の茶臼山一帯と南東端の佐久間湖周辺は天竜奥三河国定公園に属し，民宿村が開設されている。
