The title of a utazawa song, a hatauta. It is in full tempo. The song was named after the opening line, "Even if your spear rusts, your name will not rust...". The original song was "Yosaku Odori Ondo" from "Ukiregusa" (published in 1822), and towards the end of the Edo period, Utazawa Sasamaru revised the lyrics, and the song became widely sung as utazawa or hatauta. It reflects the spirit of the ronin, who believed that the dignity of a samurai rested on the sword at his waist, and reflects the social conditions of the time. It is a song with a slow tempo, and there are also alternate lyrics, and in Kabuki music it is used in scenes of murder. [Tateno Zenji] Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
