Journalist of the Meiji period. Born in Ebikawa, Gonohe Village, Sannohe County, Mutsu Province (Aomori Prefecture). His real name was Sentaro. His father was Kimura Chuji, a samurai of Morioka Domain, and his mother was Riwako. He succeeded the Toriyabe family on his mother's side. After graduating from the Agriculture Department of Aomori College, he worked as an elementary school teacher, and in 1891 graduated from the English and Politics Departments of Tokyo College (Waseda University). In 1892, he joined Shimada Saburo's Mainichi Newspaper Company. From 1893, he was involved in the editing and management of "Seiri" (later "Meiji Hyoron"). In 1895, he joined Hakubunkan and became a reporter for the magazine "Taiyo". After that, he worked for the "Hochi Shimbun" for a while, but was involved in editing "Taiyo" until his later years. 明治時代のジャーナリスト。陸奥国(青森県)三戸郡五戸村蛯川生まれ。本名・銑太郎。父は盛岡藩士木村忠治,母りわ子。母方の鳥谷部を継ぐ。青森専門学校農芸科卒業後,小学校教諭を経て,明治24(1891)年東京専門学校(早稲田大学)英語科,政治科を卒業。25年,島田三郎の毎日新聞社に入社。28年から『精神』(のち『明治評論』)の編集・経営に当たった。30年,博文館に入り,雑誌『太陽』の記者となった。その後,一時期『報知新聞』に在籍したが,晩年まで『太陽』の編集に携わった。特に,人物評論の分野で活躍した。<著作>『春汀全集』全3巻<参考文献>木村毅編『明治人物論集』(明治文学全集92巻)
