Iraq Museum - Iraq Museum (English name) al-Muthafal-`Irāqī
This museum is located in the Salhiyah district of Baghdad. It was founded in 1923. Since the Law for the Protection of Antiquities was enacted in 1924, half of the artifacts excavated in Iraq by foreign research teams have been automatically stored at the museum. As the collection grew, the museum moved to its current building in 1966. The exhibits are arranged in chronological order in six cultural periods, from prehistoric times to the Sumerian, Babylonian, Assyrian, Parthian, and Islamic periods. The museum's collection includes over 200,000 items, including the famous "Winged Statue of Sargon's Palace," as well as artifacts excavated from the Royal Tombs of Ur, the ruins of Nineveh, and the ruins of Hatra.
