A collection of medieval Greek entertainment short stories. Its correct title is "The Tales of the Philosopher Shuntipas." As the name Shuntipas, derived from the Persian name Sinbad, attests, it contains material of Persian origin, and was compiled by Michael Andreopoulos in the late 11th century. The Syriac version on which this Greek version was based dates back to the original Pahlavi text via an Arabic version by Musa in the 9th century, but neither of these have survived to the present day, so this Greek version represents the oldest text.
