Toba [city] - Toba
A city in the northeast of Shima Peninsula, Mie Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1954. The city developed around Toba Port, which faces the mouth of Ise Bay, and is served by the Sangu Line and Kintetsu Toba-Shima Line. It flourished as the base of the Kuki Navy, the castle town of Toba Domain, and a port of call for sailing ships from Edo to Osaka. It is now a fishing base, specializing in seaweed and oyster farming, and spiny lobster, turban shell, and abalone. It is home to Toshi Island, Suga Island, and many tourist spots such as Hiyoriyama and Hinata Island, and is one of the tourist centers of Ise-Shima National Park. There are pearl-related tourist facilities and accommodation facilities such as Mikimoto Pearl Island, and the Pearl Road and Ise-Shima Skyline run through the city. Ferries run between Misaki and Irago Cape, and hydrofoils run between Gamagori. It has an area of ​​107.34 km2 . Population 21,435 (2010).

三重県志摩半島北東部の市。1954年市制。伊勢湾口に臨む鳥羽港を中心に市街が発達,参宮線,近鉄鳥羽・志摩線が通じる。九鬼水軍の拠点,鳥羽藩の城下町,江戸〜大坂の帆船寄港地として栄え,現在は漁業基地で,ノリ,カキの養殖,イセエビ,サザエ,アワビを特産。答志島,菅島があり,日和(ひより)山,日向(ひなた)島など観光地も多く,伊勢志摩国立公園観光の一中心。ミキモト真珠島など真珠関連の観光施設,宿泊施設もあり,パールロード,伊勢志摩スカイラインも走る。師崎・伊良湖岬間にフェリー,蒲郡間に水中翼船が通じる。107.34km2。2万1435人(2010)。
