Year of birth: January 21, 1895 (Meiji 28)
A thinker of women's liberation during the Meiji and Taisho periods. Born in Imajuku, Itoshima County, Fukuoka Prefecture (Fukuoka City). After graduating from Shusenji Elementary School, she worked at the local post office. At the end of 1909 (Meiji 42), she moved to Tokyo and was transferred to the fourth year of Ueno Girls' High School. There she met Tsuji Jun. After graduating in 1912 (Taisho 1), she returned home and got married, but soon ran away in rebellion against the family system. She lived with Tsuji and married him (the painter Tsuji Makoto was her eldest son). In 1912, she joined Seito. In 1913, she took over as editor, and wrote original works and critiques, but also endured criticism that she was misogynistic, calling for the rejection of authority and the independence of women. During this time, she met Osugi Sakae, and after Seito ceased publication in 1916, they lived together. That same year, Osugi was stabbed by Kamichika Ichiko due to a love affair. After that, Noe married Osugi and they shared ideas and actions. She also cooperated in the publication of Bunmei Hihyo (Criticism of Civilization) and Labor Movement. In 1910, he joined the Sekirankai. In 1912, he was massacred by the military along with Osugi during the chaos of the Great Kanto Earthquake. <Works> "Kropotkin Study", "Beggar's Honor", "Two Revolutionaries" (all co-authored with Osugi), "Complete Works of Ito Noe" <References> Iwasaki Wufu, "Honoo no Onna"
