City Management - Toshikeiei

A way of thinking that tries to see local government administration not simply as local administration, but as regional administration and regional management. There are two trends: the idea of downsizing, which aims to promote private outsourcing and make local governments smaller, and the idea of using private funds and technology in local government administration and promoting town development with the involvement of the third sector. Both of these are attempts to apply the idea of management to local government management and town development, and are attracting attention as a new administrative stance for local government administration in the future.

自治体行政を単なる地方行政としてではなく，地域行政，地域経営ととらえようとする考え方。民間委託を進め小さな自治体を目指そうとする減量経営の考え方と，自治体行政に民間の資金や技術を活用し第三セクターを介在させながら町づくりを進めようという考え方の2つの流れがある。いずれもマネージメント (経営) という考え方を自治体運営や町づくりに適用していこうというもので，今後の自治体行政における新しい行政姿勢として注目される。
