Dokurakuji Temple - Dokurakuji

A Liao Dynasty temple in Ji County, Hebei Province, China. It is also called the Great Buddha Temple. It was built by the Liao Dynasty, a foreign dynasty, by absorbing Chinese culture. The Kannon Pavilion and mountain gate were built in 984 and are said to be the oldest wooden towers still standing in China, making them important for understanding the architectural techniques of the time. 中国，河北(かほく)省薊(けい)県にある遼(りょう)代の寺院。大仏寺ともいう。異民族王朝たる遼が中国文化を摂取して建てた寺。観音閣・山門は984年の建造で，中国現存最古の木造楼閣建築とされ，当時の建築技術を知る上で重要。高さ3mの観音立像は唐風を残す遼代最古の遺品。
