A Liao Dynasty temple in Ji County, Hebei Province, China. It is also called the Great Buddha Temple. It was built by the Liao Dynasty, a foreign dynasty, by absorbing Chinese culture. The Kannon Pavilion and mountain gate were built in 984 and are said to be the oldest wooden towers still standing in China, making them important for understanding the architectural techniques of the time. The 3m-tall standing Kannon statue is the oldest relic from the Liao Dynasty that still retains the Tang Dynasty style.
