[Born] 1201.2.18. Tooth Died June 26, 1274. Baghdad Persian Shiite philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician. He first served as an astronomer to the Ismaili leader Nasir al-Din, but in 1258 he moved to the Mongolian court and became Chief Religious Officer. Philosophically, he continued the tradition of Ibn Sina, annotating Ibn Sina's Book of Instructions and Admonitions. He also wrote original works in the fields of mathematics and astronomy. In the field of religion, he explained Shiite doctrine in Tajrīd al-`aqā'id (Explanation of the Faith). Furthermore, Akhlāqe Nāṣirī (Ethics) is a treatise on Greek ethics.
