A Chinese fairyland, one of the otherworldly realms in the mountains. Also known as Shangri-La. According to Tao Yuanming's Peach Blossom Spring, a fisherman from Wuling, Hunan Province, wandered into the place and was welcomed. Later, it was considered an ideal place on earth, and Wang Wei, Han Yu, Wang Anshi, and Hu Hong wrote poems about the journey to Shangri-La. It differs in character from Western utopias and paradises in that it is connected to the land and can be reached. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
