A school established in Shanghai in 1901 by the East Asian Common Culture Association. It was the successor to the Nanjing Common Culture Academy, which aimed to train personnel for Japan-China friendship, but also served to train mid-level executives for Japan's expansion into China. It became a vocational school in 1921 and a university in 1939. It had a business department (also had agriculture, engineering and politics departments at one time). It had about 5,000 graduates until it was abolished after World War II. → Related article Sugiura Jyugo Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
