Heat transfer

A general term for the process of spatial energy transfer caused by temperature differences or temperature gradients. The basic mechanisms of heat transfer are thermal conduction and thermal radiation. When a fluid flows in contact with an object, the transfer of heat (directly by thermal conduction) between the object and the flow is promoted as a result of the coexistence of thermal conduction and the transport of thermal energy (internal energy or enthalpy) that accompanies the flow. Such forms of heat transfer involving flow are called convection heat transfer, convection heat transfer, or simply heat transfer.

温度の差，あるいは温度の勾配を原因として生ずるエネルギーの空間的移動過程の総称。伝熱の基本的機構としては熱伝導と熱放射がある。また，ある物体に接して流体が流れている場合には，流れに伴う熱エネルギー (内部エネルギーあるいはエンタルピー) の輸送と熱伝導との共存の結果，物体と流れとの間の伝熱 (直接には熱伝導による) が促進される。このように流れが関与する伝熱の形態を対流伝熱あるいは対流熱伝達あるいは単に熱伝達と呼ぶ。
