A wedding chest made in Italy between the 14th and 16th centuries. It usually has an exterior with reliefs or inlays, and sometimes is decorated with paintings. It was often given as a wedding gift. Traditionally, two sets were made, each bearing the family coat of arms of the bride and groom. Many were by major Italian Renaissance artists, such as Uccello, Botticelli, and Andrea del Sarto.
