Trace elements - trace elements
Also known as trace elements, these refer to elements that are essential for living organisms, but only in very small amounts. While minerals are required in dietary amounts of 100 mg or more per day, trace elements are required in amounts less than that. Trace elements include chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co), copper (Cu), iodine (I), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), molybdenum (Mo), selenium (Se), zinc (Zn), and fluorine (F) (Table, Table (continued)). Of these, fluorine is essential for the growth of mice, but it has not been proven that it is essential for humans.

微量元素ともいい,生体にとって必須ではあるが,必要量のきわめて少量の元素をいう。ミネラルが食物中の量として1日100mg以上必要とされるのに対し,痕跡元素の必要量はそれ以下である。痕跡元素としては,クロムCr,コバルトCo,銅Cu,ヨードI,鉄Fe,マンガンMn,モリブデンMo,セレンSe,亜鉛Zn,フッ素Fなどがある(表,表(つづき))。このうちフッ素はネズミの成長に必須であるが,ヒトに必須であるということは証明されていない。
