Kunio Yanagita - Yanagita Kunio
Founder of Japanese folklore studies. Born in Hyogo Prefecture. Maiden name Matsuoka. After graduating from the Department of Politics at the University of Tokyo, he joined the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce. He was friends with Tayama Katai and Shimazaki Toson.
