Japanese: 殿上淵酔 - てんじょうえんずい

After New Year's and five-season ceremonies, the Emperor attends the Seiryoden Palace and holds a private drinking party for the chamberlain chief and other courtiers. In the case of New Year's, it is held on an auspicious day between the 2nd and 3rd. According to sources such as the Kenmu Annual Events, the chamberlain chief and other courtiers sit on the platform, and after a toast from the chamberlain sixth rank is given, there is recitation, imayo, and banzai music, after which the cords of their costumes are untied and one sleeve of their jacket is removed (shoulder removal). Next, the sixth rank members line up and dance with their sleeves fluttering, forming a wild dance that moves to the beat. The Emperor watches from around the half-shuttered screen on the palace floor, or from a seated position beside the annual event shoji screen.

正月や五節の大礼などのあと，清涼殿の殿上に天皇が出席し，蔵人頭以下の殿上人が内々に行う酒宴。正月の場合は2日，3日中の吉日を選んで行われた。《建武年中行事》などによれば蔵人頭以下が台盤に着し，六位蔵人の献杯につづいて朗詠，今様，万歳楽があったのち装束の紐をとき，上着の片袖をぬぐ肩脱ぎ(袒褐)となる。ついで六位の人々が立ち並び袖をひるがえして舞い，拍子をとってはやす乱舞となる。天皇は殿上の半蔀（はじとみ）のあたり，または年中行事障子の辺の倚子にかけて見る。
