Electric fence - denkibokusaku

Japanese: 電気牧柵 - でんきぼくさく

A type of facility used for managing livestock grazing. Iron wire is stretched around the perimeter of the pasture, and one end of a power source is connected to the iron wire (fence wire) and the other end is connected to the ground. When the animal touches the fence wire, an electrical circuit is formed between the animal's body and the ground, causing an electric current to flow. This electrical shock is intended to prevent livestock from escaping from the fence. It is widely used because it does not cost much to set up, can be easily moved or removed, and is very convenient for implementing grazing.

家畜を放牧管理する際に用いられる施設の一つ。放牧地の周囲に鉄線を張りめぐらし，電源の一端をこの鉄線 (牧柵線) に，他の一端を地中に接続して，牧柵線に触れると動物体と地中を通る電気回路が形成され，電流が流れる仕組みになっている。この電気的衝撃によって，家畜が柵外へ脱出するのを防ごうというもの。施設費がそれほどかからず，柵の移動や取除きが容易にでき，放牧を実施するうえで非常に便利であるため，広く用いられている。
