A private television broadcasting company based in Tokyo. It began television broadcasting in 1964 as the Science and Technology Education Bureau of the Japan Science and Technology Foundation. In 1968 it became Tokyo 12 Channel Co., Ltd., and in 1981 it became TV Tokyo. It is a part of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun Group, and has formed TV Tokyo Net (TXN) with five local stations. It has expanded into BS/CS broadcasting and online distribution. Its strengths are economic information and animation.
