Ichinohe [town] - Ichinohe
A town in Ninohe County in northern Iwate Prefecture. Located on the Hachinohe Expressway and along the IGR Iwate Galaxy Railway, Ichinohe is the center of the town, with the Mabechi River flowing north through the center. It flourished as a post town on the Oshu Kaido road. It has long been famous for producing horses. It produces lettuce, asparagus, tomatoes, grapes, apples, and also raises livestock. There is a large silicified tree (a special natural monument) in Nesori. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 300.03 km2 . 14,187 people (2010).
