...The story is based on the double suicide of Inosuke and Miyoshi (Yoshino) in July 1769 (Meiwa 6). Fuji Shorochu published a sequel to the story, Nochi no Masayume, in 1857 (Ansei 4). (The original story was the human interest novel Akegarasu no Masayume, co-written by Tamenaga Shunsui and Takitei Rijyo.)
