Pastor - Poimēn (English spelling)

The title of a clergyman in the Protestant church. It is one of the charismatic ministry functions (positions) of the early church, as seen in Ephesians 4:11 in the New Testament, and is thought to have been responsible for the spiritual care of church members. This function was absorbed by bishops and priests in the early church and continues to this day, but with the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century, Protestant churches that adopted the "priesthood of all priests" abolished the privileged "priesthood" and restored the role and title of pastor, but in form it is similar to a Catholic priest, especially a parish priest.

プロテスタントの教会組織における教職名。新約聖書『エペソ人への手紙』4章 11にみられる初期教会のカリスマ的奉仕機能 (職) の一つで，教会員の霊的な世話を担当したと思われる。すでに初期教会からこの機能は司教，司祭に吸収され今日にいたっているが，16世紀の宗教改革で，「万人祭司主義」に立つプロテスタント諸教会は特権的な「司祭制」を廃して牧師の役割と名称とを復活させたが，形のうえではカトリックの司祭，特に主任司祭に類似している。
