In the Edo Shogunate, the shinbangashira, kojiyunin-gumi, kachi-gumi, hyakunin-gumi no kashira, and sakite-gumi were all of the rank of hoi, and were equivalent to the monogatari of various feudal domains. Among them, the shinbangashira were cavalry (original samurai), the kojiyunin-gumi and kachi-gumi were infantry (original foot soldiers), the hyakunin-gumi were musketeers (yoriki, doshin), and the sakite-gumi were both archery and musketeers (yoriki, doshin)....
