〘Noun〙 (indian indiën, the characters "inden" were used to interpret the meaning of introduction to India) 1. Tanned leather of sheep or deer. Dyed and decorated with lacquer patterns, used for bags and the like. Originally it was tanned leather from India, but in the early modern period it became known as a specialty of Koshu, and was often made from processed cowhide.
