Tetori Plant Group

Japanese: 手取植物群 - てとりしょくぶつぐん

It is also read as "Tedori". It is a general term for fossil plants found in the Upper Jurassic to Lower Cretaceous Tetori Group (170 to 96 million years ago), which is widely distributed across Nagano, Gifu, Toyama, Ishikawa and Fukui prefectures. This flora was first studied by HT Geiler in 1877. The specimens used by Geiler were collected by JJ Line from the so-called "Fossil Wall" on the right bank of the Tedori River in Kuwajima, Shiramine Village, Ishikawa County, Ishikawa Prefecture. The Tetori Flora is composed of one species of algae, one species of bryophyte, two species of horsetails, 42 species of ferns, two species of seed ferns, 31 species of cycads, 11 species of ginkgoes, four species of Cecchanowskia, 17 species of cones and two other species, with ferns of the family Acanthaceae, ginkgoes and broad-leaved cones dominating the flora.

〈てどり〉とも読む。長野，岐阜，富山，石川，福井各県にまたがって広く分布する，上部ジュラ系～下部白亜系手取累層群(1億7000万～9600万年前)に含まれる化石植物の総称。この植物群は，はじめ1877年，H.T.ガイラーによって研究された。ガイラーが研究に用いた標本は，石川県石川郡白峰村桑島の手取川右岸の通称“化石壁”から，J.J.ラインによって採集されたものである。　手取植物群は，藻植物1種，蘚苔植物1種，トクサ類2種，シダ類42種，シダ種子類2種，ソテツ類31種，イチョウ類11種，チェカノフスキア類4種，球果類17種，その他2種からなり，タカワラビ科のシダ，イチョウや広葉球果の類が優勢の植物群である。
