Nopporo Forest Park

This prefectural natural park, located in central Hokkaido and spanning the cities of Sapporo, Ebetsu, and Kitahiroshima, covers an area of ​​approximately 20 square kilometers. It was established in 1968 (Showa 43) to commemorate 100 years since the development of Hokkaido. The Nopporo Primeval Forest, a special natural monument, has existed since the time of development and protects and cultivates approximately 450 species of trees, including Japanese larches, birches, elms, katsura, and linden trees, and is home to 80 species of wild birds. It also features a Centennial Memorial Tower, a Pioneer Memorial Hall, and a Pioneer Village. The park is surrounded by an educational district, with Rakuno Gakuen University, Sapporo Gakuin University (formerly Sapporo University of Commerce), and the Hokkaido Prefectural Library.

北海道中央部、札幌市・江別市(えべつし)・北広島市にまたがる面積約20平方キロメートルの道立自然公園。1968年(昭和43)北海道開拓100年を記念して設置された。特別天然記念物野幌原始林は開拓当時からのもので、トドマツ、シラカバ、ニレ、カツラ、シナノキなど約450種を保護育成しており、80種の野鳥が生息する。また百年記念塔、開拓記念館、開拓の村がつくられている。公園周辺は酪農学園大学、札幌学院大学(旧、札幌商科大学)、道立図書館などがある文教地区となっている。
