Phonosurgery - Onseigeka (English spelling)

Japanese: 音声外科 - おんせいげか（英語表記）phonosurgery

A general term for surgical treatments aimed at improving vocal function. In addition to removal of vocal cord nodules, polyps, and benign tumors, and midline vocal cord fixation and intracordal injection for recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis, various surgical methods for laryngeal cartilage have also been devised (called laryngeal functional surgery). These techniques are also used for repair and reconstruction after laryngectomy for malignant tumors. In this case, careful consideration must be given not only to vocal function, but also to respiratory function and the defense function of the lower airway during swallowing.

発声機能の改善を目指して行われる外科的治療の総称。声帯結節，ポリープ，良性腫瘍などの切除，反回神経麻痺に対する声帯正中固定術や声帯内注射法などのほかに，喉頭軟骨に対する各種の手術方法も考案されている (喉頭機能外科という) 。これらの手技は，悪性腫瘍に対する喉頭摘出後の修復，再建にも利用される。この際，発声機能のみでなく，呼吸道としての機能および嚥下時の下気道防御機能についても十分な配慮が必要である。
