A type of gymnastics apparatus, and the exercises performed using it. One of the men's events in artistic gymnastics. It began in 1812 when FL Jahn created the horizontal bar Reck and created the chin-up exercise. At that time, it was made of wood, not iron. Even today, many of the horizontal bars seen in amusement parks in northern Europe are made of wood. They were imported to Japan after they had become iron bars, so they were named "horizontal bars." Generally, exercises include chin-ups, spins, and kicks. In competitions, an iron bar 255cm to 275cm high, 240cm wide, and 28mm in diameter is used, and competitors compete for the beauty and wonder of consecutive moves that combine climbing, spinning, jumping (movements in which the competitors leave the bar and return to it during the performance), and descending moves. → Related items Gymnastics | Uneven bars Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
