Taizé (English spelling)

Japanese: テゼー（英語表記）Taizé

A village in the Saône-et-Loire department in central France. Known as the home of a unique Christian community. It began when Pastor Roger Schutz welcomed Jews and others persecuted by the Nazis into his home in 1940. The community endured Nazi persecution and built itself up, later becoming an organization based on vows of celibacy, joint ownership of property, absolute obedience, and daily worship. Protestants, Eastern Orthodox, and Catholics from various countries also joined, and the community now consists of nearly 100 people who live together and work in a variety of professions.

フランス中部，ソーヌ･エ･ロアール県の村。特異なキリスト教徒の共同体の所在地として知られる。これは，牧師シュッツRoger Schutzがナチに追われたユダヤ人などを同地の自宅に迎えたのに始まる(1940)。ナチの迫害に耐え共同体を建設，のちに独身，財産共有，絶対服従の誓約に基づき，日ごとの礼拝を重んじる組織となった。各国のプロテスタント信徒，東方正教徒，カトリック教徒も加わり，100名近くが共に住み，各種職業に従事している。
