Economic Recovery Council

Japanese:
Economic Recovery Council
A national movement organization formed after World War II with the aim of achieving economic recovery through labor-management cooperation, centered on Sōdōmei and the Japan Association of Corporate Executives, with the participation of the Industrial Federation Council, management associations, technical associations, research groups, academics, and other experts. It was formed in February 1947 (chaired by Suzuki Mosaburo) and was essentially dissolved in April 1948. The Economic Recovery Council's policy was economic recovery through labor-management cooperation, centered on industry-specific and regional economic recovery councils and management councils within individual companies. However, while Sōdōmei and management associations placed importance on these organizations as labor-management cooperation organizations, the Industrial Federation Council formed the Industrial Recovery Council in October 1946 and advocated "economic recovery through general strikes," so even after joining the Economic Recovery Council, it did not consider these organizations to be labor-management cooperation organizations, and instead advocated economic recovery through workers' hands, placing importance on and carrying out collective bargaining and strikes.
